Northridge Middle School is sponsoring a middle school mediation group called "Keeping it Together", which comes under the aegis of the H.E.A.R.T. Program (Human Efforts Aimed at Relating Together). The objective of our program is to commit young people to a process that encourages them to assume responsibility and accountability in maintaining a safe school campus. "Keeping it Together", involves our students from every social and ethnic group on campus. It is a program that showcases thier natural leadership in a form of a dialogue. On a regular basis, our student mediation groups tackle conflict on campus. This conflict can range from disputes related to race, ethnicity, gender, gang, or other issues. Students use the H.E.AR.T. Program, "Keeping it Together", to reach a dialogue of resolution, which assures everyone of a peaceful campus. We are requesting a donation in the form of certificates, passes, or tickets to special events, films, or amusement parks. These donations would be used as door prizes, and at raffles for deserving students. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated. This is a great opportunity to provide community support for students who are interested in pursuing a career as teachers, community workers, youth advisors, or counselors in our public schools. Thank you for your interest and generous support of this worthy endeavor. |
